Monarch Alphabet, Hand Rendered Typography, Fall 2020
This alphabet was designed to work as a poster that could present the alphabet in an interesting way. I focused on Monarch caterpillars on milkweed. I illustrated each letter digitally in Adobe Illustrator.
Details
I drew inspiration from monarch caterpillars, milkweed, and monarch eggs. Organic lines and shape help create a natural feel.
Personality
Each caterpillar is drawn differently. I draw inspiration from photos I have taken of monarch caterpillars in my free time. I found they move around a lot, and I wanted to capture their movements and cuteness.
Overlap, Line, and Color
I focused on line and color to capture the subject. I used a variation of line thicknesses, values of colors, and overlapping of elements to create depth and a visual interest.
